Amanda and David’s dedication, compassion, and tireless advocacy for children have earned them national recognition, with the winners to be announced at the awards ceremony in Birmingham on Friday 3 October 2025.
The couple, who have been fostering with Orange Grove since 2011, are shortlisted for the Foster Carer Award. This category honours foster carers who demonstrate perseverance, advocacy, and an unwavering commitment to placing the needs of children at the centre of their care.
Over the last 14 years, Amanda and David have provided a safe and nurturing home for many children, consistently going above and beyond to ensure every child feels valued and supported. Their dedication extends beyond fostering placements, with the couple maintaining relationships with families long after children have moved on, reflecting the depth of care they bring to their role.
A shining example of their approach is seen in the long-term placement of a young boy with Down’s Syndrome. Amanda and David not only provide him with consistent, loving care, but also work tirelessly to maintain his connection with his mum and siblings. From organising family visits and sharing holiday photos, to supporting milestone events and everyday celebrations, the Eyeingtons ensure he enjoys a strong sense of belonging in both his foster and birth family.
Their commitment to advocacy is also evident in education. When the young boy faced barriers at school, Amanda championed his right to use adaptive technology so he could take part fully alongside his peers. Their efforts have helped him grow in confidence and develop his communication skills, moving from single words to fuller sentences.
In addition to their direct care, Amanda and David play an active role in supporting the wider fostering community. They regularly provide advice and respite to fellow carers, and Amanda leads a Downs Syndrome support group in Milton Keynes to help families and carers share resources and experiences.
Reflecting on their impact, their supervising team describe the couple as “valued members of the Orange Grove family whose dedication and advocacy have created life-changing outcomes for children.”
Orange Grove is immensely proud to see Amanda and David’s commitment recognised on a national stage and wish them the very best at the awards ceremony in Birmingham this October.
