Our Orange Grove agency is seeking a committed Family Support Worker to provide direct and indirect support to children and young people living with foster families, alongside birth children and foster carers to promote the stability of foster placements.

The successful applicant will also be responsible for arranging activities and workshops for ‘Looked After’ and Birth children alongside family events and days out. There is an expectation that you will be able to provide succinct verbal and written reports and attend meetings with Professionals from Education, Health and Social Services sectors to support our children’s and young people’s care plans.

To be considered for this role you should have relevant child care experience, ideally within the fostering sector, be able to work flexible hours, act upon your own initiative, and have the ability to relate positively to children, young people, birth families, foster carers, social workers and other associated professionals.

It is essential that you are passionate about improving the lives of children and young people and have a clear understanding of safe care.

You will be attached to the Doncaster office. You must hold a valid driving license, own your own car and be confident to travel by car across Yorkshire and surrounding areas.

Joint Fostering Panel for our FosterPlus & Orange Grove agencies

Trentham, Staffordshire & Long Eaton, Nottinghamshire
Salary:
£500 per full day
Required for the second Friday of every month

PiCS are currently looking for dedicated and motivated Panel Chair to be join our current Central List and be part of our East Midlands Joint Fostering Panel, held in Trentham, Staffordshire and Long Eaton, Nottinghamshire. Panels takes place on the second Friday of every month. Attendance is paid at a rate of £500 per full day Panel.

Job Description

  • To Chair Panel meetings, ensuring that all items of business are covered and that the Panel operates in accordance with regulations and the policies and procedures of the agency.
  • To prepare for Panel meetings, reading Panel papers carefully, identifying key issues and alerting the Panel Adviser if necessary to ensure, as far as possible, that the case is adequate for submission to Panel.
  • To facilitate the active participation of all Panel members in contributing to the Panel’s consideration of cases and to the making of clear and well evidenced recommendations with the reasons for these.
  • To ensure that all those attending Panel are treated with respect and courtesy.
  • To address diversity issues and promote anti-discriminatory practice at all times.
  • To ensure that clear and accurate minutes are written, which record any serious reservations which Panel members may have, and to be involved in checking and agreeing draft minutes with other Panel members before they are sent to the Agency Decision Maker.
  • To liaise with the Agency Decision Maker and with other senior managers as required.
  • To ensure, along with the Panel Adviser, that senior managers are aware of issues of concern, in relation both to individual cases and to more general matters.
  • To be involved in the recruitment and appointment of Central List members and in any consideration about terminating the appointment of a member.
  • To review, possibly with the Panel Adviser, the performance of Panel members as the need arises, and at least annually.
  • To assist in developing, promoting and monitoring policies and procedures and high standards of work in the agency.
  • To assist in planning training for Panel members and to participate in this at least one day per year.
  • To safeguard the confidentiality of all Panel papers and Panel discussions.

To be involved in:

  • Deciding whether a case is adequate for submission to Panel;
  • Deciding on the attendance of observers at Panel;
  • Deciding on the participation of a Panel member who declares an interest in a case;
  • Deciding when an extra Panel may be necessary;
  • The preparation of an annual report on the Panel’s work.
