Fostering in Northampton

Could you be a foster carer? If you’re in Northampton, are 21 or over and have a spare room then fostering might be for you. Our carers come from all backgrounds and age groups – the most important thing is your ability to care for and nurture a child.

What are the requirements to foster in Northampton?

All our carers in Northampton must be a British citizen (or have indefinite leave to remain), have a spare room and be 21 or older. Of course, it’s important that you are patient, understanding and committed to helping children. You do need a certain level of fitness that allows for day-to-day activities like playing games or collecting children from school.

Many people rule themselves out of fostering unnecessarily. For instance, you can foster whether you are single, married or divorced. Foster carers can be of almost any age and male or female. You can also foster if you have no children, young children or grown-up children or are a single parent.

It doesn’t matter if you are employed or unemployed, as long as you have enough time to look after children in your care.

Pauline and Derek’s fostering journey

Foster Carers, Pauline and Derek share their fostering journey with Orange Grove and why caring for a sibling group of five was the best thing they’ve ever done.

“My first placement was a family of five and I’m telling you now, it was the most rewarding thing we’ve ever done!”
